Well, I know that too formal of a writing style can confuse me, so I prefer a more casual tone to the story. I want to read a story and have it keep me on the edge of my seat, and excite me throughout the whole experience. Books to me do not always have to include a moral, or a lesson to them. Reading to me is a source of entertainment. For example, the novel I read in 4th grade, Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods, was so original and odd, yet thrilling and exciting. I like when a story gets to the action considerably quickly. I usually give up on a story if it takes too long to build up.
I hope this helps in some way, or at least inspires you. Have a great day!

English 4 -- Unit 4 - William Shakespeare's Macbeth - Dramatic Structure of a Tragedy
This chart is adapted from Sydney Theatre Co Education and The Purple Book
A Shakespearean tragedy traditionally follows the Freytag Pyramid (plot structure diagram ^) which
consists of five parts: Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Denouement. For each of
these parts, list important / significant details (not random parts) advance the plot and/or give us crucial
information about what the characters are doing. You MUST have at least ONE detail from EACH scene
in each Act.
ACTI - Exposition - The exposition 'sets the stage' by introducing the characters, describing the setting,
and identifying the conflict. (seven scenes]
ACT 2 - Rising Action - The plot thickens' with the addition of complications, which cause difficulties for
the main characters and make the conflict more difficult to resolve. (four scenes]
ACT 3 - Climax - The climax is the turning point in the play that changes the protagonist's fate. The
climax is the consequence of the events that occurred in the rising action. Nothing can be the same after
this point. (six scenes)
ACT 4 - Falling Action - This part includes the plot that happens after the climax. The falling action often
contains a moment of suspense. Often, the conflict is resolved, and the intensity of the action subsides.
Things begin to wind down. (three scenes]
ACT 5 - Resolution and Denouement (untie) – 'The End' - This is the part after the conflict is resolved
(resolution), and life in the drama somewhat returns to normal. All loose ends are tied up and the story
ends. Iseven scenes]

Dear Catherine,
I desired to reach home early, and I know that my delay would have you worried, but something terrible happened to our ship on our way back. On June 20, 1807, when our ship was returning home, our ship was inspected by British Royal Navy, and they claimed many of us to be their crew members who deserted their ships. With much pain I write to inform you that I, too, have been forcefully added to the British Navy. But our government is now suppose to take actions against it. Please, do not get worry after reading this, I will be back soon. Take care of yourself and the kids. With love, Andrew.

True or False: Mood and tone are the same thing.
Answer:
False
Explanation:
The statement "Mood and tone are the same things" is false.
What are mood and tone? The emotional response a writer seeks to elicit from the reader in a creative, persuasive, or intimate literary piece is called mood in literature.
It's all about sensation, and because of this, it's curiously difficult to explain. It sets the mood and conveys to the reader how they should feel about what they are reading. In literature, tone describes the author's perspective on a certain subject.
By using precise word choice, the author conveys to the reader their thoughts and opinions as well as the motivations behind the work. An adjective is always used to characterize a story's tone.
In contrast to mood, which refers to the general ambiance of a piece of writing and the author's overall reaction to it, the tone is the emotion between the narrator and the author.
Therefore, the statement is false.

excerpt from To Be Famous We Must Be Ambitious
by Rosetta Dunigan
The desire to be thought well of, to desire to be great in goodness, is in itself a noble quality of the mind. It is often termed ambition. If it is our
ambition to gain distinction, we will rob the weak and flatter the strong. We may even become the fawning slaves of those who are able to raise our
status, giving us titles and honor without merit.
But, if we are ambitious to do good, without any regard for the fame we may win or the praise we may command, our course will be honorable and
our acts will be worthy. Those who come after us will remember these good acts and reap their benefits. They will remember our names and our
labors, since we will have helped mankind and helped enlighten the world.
Which statement best expresses how the second paragraph connects to the first paragraph in the excerpt?
OA. The second paragraph explains the sequence of events that follow when one's ambition is to gain distinction.
OB. The second paragraph builds on the idea of slavery discussed in the first paragraph.
OC. The second paragraph contrasts the benefits of ambition with the disadvantages described in the first paragraph.

Answer:
The lines from the poem illustrate that the speaker:
D. has grown so sad that death would be a relief
Explanation:
The excerpt we are analyzing here was taken from the poem "The Old Swimmin' Hole" by James Whitcomb Riley. The speaker talks of [his] sorrow," and of wanting to strip his soul. We can infer he is deeply sad, to the point of wishing for something drastic. After stripping his soul, he wants to "dive off in [his] grave," meaning he would like to die. Connecting both parts, we can tell that his sadness has become so extreme that he would rather die than feel it. For that reason, the best option is letter D. has grown so sad that death would be a relief.

The battles which followed were terrible indeed. The words of Queen Boadicea had stirred the Britons until they were mad with thoughts of revenge, and hopes of freedom. They gave no mercy, and they asked none. They utterly destroyed the towns of London and of St. Albans, or Verulamium as it was then called, killing every one, man, woman and child. Again and again the Romans were defeated, till it almost seemed as if the Britons really would succeed in driving them out of the country. Boadicea herself led the soldiers, encouraging them with her brave words. "It is better to die with honor than to live in slavery," she said. "I am a woman, but I would rather die than yield. Will you follow me, men?" and of course the men followed her gladly. –“The Story of a Warrior Queen,” Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall
